Overview
This article reviews how to make a name correction in a GDS.
- Use for the rules on airline restrictions.
- If the request is not urgent, the Air Ops form can be submitted instead.
- Some airlines canonlybe corrected via the Air Ops form
- It is most commonly restricted for F9, NK, and SY
- Do not alter name fields in the GDS for these airlines
- Do not process any name corrections due to extra spaces, missing spaces, apostrophes or dashes. This is not an issue that impacts travel.
How to Correct the Name
- Verify the name correction is allowed per airline restrictions.
- Making or requesting an illegal name correction will result in an agent error or debit memo.
- If more information is needed, check the airline's website.
- If an OSI is required by airline rules, copy the format into your notes so it can be pasted into the PNR later. For example, Delta and JetBlue have mandatory OSI formats.
- Display the PNR:*ABC123
- Enter a command to update the name field on the PNR
- Example for pax 2 correction from John Smith to John Smythe:-2¤SMYTHE/JOHN
- Update the TSA information to match the new name spelling
- The gender and date of birthcannotbe modified when correcting the name.
- Example:3DOCS/DB/09JAN60/M/SMYTHE/JOHN-2.1
- Alternatively the Smart Panel can be used. SeeAdd SSRfor more information.
- Sign/ receive the work:6jsmith
- Enter the commandERto save the correction.
- View and remove any oldTSA information.
- Submit Air Ops formfor name correction.
